Mariners Game Notes — August 8 vs. San Diego

AS YOU MAY KNOW…J.P. Crawford extended his on-base streak to 12 games (7/24-c) after clubbing his 6th career leadoff home run on Sunday, but had his franchise record-tying walk streak come to an end at 10 games (7/25–8/5) and…YOU MAY ALSO KNOW…that since June 10, Crawford is batting .295 (51x173) with 31 runs, 14 doubles, 7 home runs, 15 RBI and 36 walks, while getting on base at a .420 clip, slugging .497 (.917 OPS) with a 162 wRC+ and 2.0 fWAR, but…DID YOU KNOW?…that since June 10, Crawford ranks among the AL leaders in on base percentage (4th), wRC+ (6th) and fWAR (9th)?…overall this season, Crawford ranks 3rd in the AL in on base percentage (.379), 11th in wRC+, 10th in bWAR (3.6) and 1st in walk rate (15.0%).

TONIGHT’S TILT…the Mariners begin a 5-game homestand with the first of 2 games against the San Diego Padres…following the off day on Thursday, Seattle will host the Baltimore Orioles (3 G, Aug. 11–13)…Seattle recently wrapped up a brief 4-game road trip to Los Angeles Angels (4–0)…tonight’s game will be televised live on ROOT SPORTS and broadcast live on Seattle Sports (710 AM).

ODDS AND ENDS…the Mariners defeated the Angels by a 3–2 score in 10 innings on Sunday, winning their 5th consecutive game…Seattle is 7–1 over its last 8 games, 10–2 over its last 12, 13–4 over its last 17 and 22–10 over its last 32 since July 1…the Mariners are 46–18 when scoring at least 4 runs and 14–34 when scoring 3-or-fewer…the Mariners are 31–26 at T-Mobile Park and 29–26 on the road this season…they are 21–19 in day games and 39–33 at night.

· WWWWW — Seattle has won 5-consecutive games (8/2-c), their longest winning streak of the season…they previously put together 5 separate 4-game winning streaks this season (4/12–4/16; 4/30–5/4; 5/22–5/25; 7/1–7/4)…the last time the Mariners won at least 5-consecutive games was 8/28–9/4, 2022, when Seattle won 7-consecutive games.

· How Sweep It Is — The Mariners completed their 2nd 4-game sweep of the season, and their 4th sweep overall in Sunday’s win against the Los Angeles Angels…the Mariners have also swept Oakland (2x: 3 G, May 2–4 and 4 G, May 22–25) and Colorado (3 G, April 14–16).

· Today’s Roster Moves — The Mariners announced today that RHP Ryder Ryan was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma and RHP Bryan Woo was placed on the 15-day Injured List (right forearm inflammation, retroactive Aug. 5)…RHP Ryan Jensen was claimed off waivers from the Chicago Cubs (will report to Triple-A Tacoma) and RHP Matt Festa was designated for assignment.

PLAYING THEIR BEST BALL…after their series sweep against the Los Angeles Angels, the Mariners have won 5 consecutive series as well as 5 consecutive road series…the Mariners have won 8 of their last 10 series, owning an 8–1–1 series record since June 30…Seattle took 2 of 3 vs. Tampa Bay (6/30–7/2), 2 of 3 at San Francisco (7/3–7/5) and 3 of 4 at Houston (7/6–7/9) heading into the All-Star Break…the Mariners lost 2 of 3 vs. Detroit (7/14–7/16) and split a 4-game series vs. Minnesota (7/17–7/20)…in their last 5 series, they have won 2 of 3 vs. Toronto (7/21–7/23), 2 of 3 at Minnesota (7/24–7/26), 2 of 3 at Arizona (7/28–7/30), 2 of 3 vs. Boston (7/31–8/2) and a 4-game sweep of Los Angeles-AL (8/3–8/6)

ME AND JULIO DOWN BY THE BALLYARD…Julio Rodríguez went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday’s win and has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games (7/22-c)…Julio has also reached safely in 30 of 31 games (7/1-c) with the Mariners going 22–9 in those contests…since July 22, J-Rod is batting .333 (22x66) with 14 runs, 6 doubles, 5 home runs, 12 RBI, 3 walks and 5 stolen bases, getting on base at a .380 clip, slugging .652 with a 1.032 OPS…during that span, he ranks among the AL leaders (min. 50 PA) in average (4th), SLG (9th), OPS (8th), wRC+ (7th, 184) and fWAR (2nd, 1.1), trailing only Bobby Witt Jr.-KC (1.3 fWAR)…in 65 games since May 22, Julio is batting .292 (80x274) with 38 runs, 16 doubles, 11 home runs, 41 RBI and 19 stolen bases, getting on base at a .349 clip and slugging .471 (.820 OPS).

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION…since July 22, the Mariners offense is batting .261 (136x521) with 80 runs, 31 doubles, 1 triple and 27 home runs, getting on base at a .333 clip and slugging .480 (.813 OPS)…during that span, the Mariners 27 home runs are tied for 2nd-most in the Majors, trailing only Atlanta (29), while ranking among the top 10 in OBP (8th), SLG (5th), OPS (6th) and wRC+ (5th, 128)…during that span, the Mariners have scored 5.3 runs per game which ranks 2nd in the AL, trailing only Texas (5.6)

GIMME SOME MOORE…since June 21, Dylan Moore is batting .267 (12x45) with 8 runs, 4 doubles, 5 home runs, 10 RBI and 2 stolen bases, getting on base at a .327 clip and slugging .689 (1.015 OPS) in 21 games (12 starts)…since July 22, Moore’s wRC+ of 282 and his OPS of 1.410 lead the Majors (min. 20 PA)…during that span, Moore is hitting .385 (10x26) with 6 runs, 3 doubles, 4 homers and 7 RBI, getting on base at a .448 clip and slugging .962 (1.410 OPS).

GENO VIBES WITH AN RBI…over his last 20 games since July 17, Eugenio Suárez is batting .272 (22x81) with 8 runs, 3 doubles, 5 home runs and 20 RBI, getting on base at a .326 clip and slugging .494 (.820 OPS)…he set a Mariners franchise record after recording an RBI in 10-consecutive games (7/25–8/4), surpassing Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez’ 9-game RBI streak set from Aug. 12–20, 1995…Suárez leads the Mariners and ranks 6th in the AL with 72 RBI on the season.

HOMESTAND FIT FOR A ‘KING’…the Mariners begin a 5-game homestand vs. San Diego (2 G, Aug. 8–9) and Baltimore (3 G, Aug. 11–13) tonight with Sesame Street Night…the homestand is highlighted by Félix Hernández Hall of Fame Induction Weekend, featuring Félix Hernández Mariners Hall of Fame Fireworks Night on Friday, Aug. 11, Félix Hernández Mariners Hall of Fame Induction Night on Saturday, Aug. 12 and Félix Hernández Mariners Hall of Fame Bobblehead Day on Sunday, Aug. 13…the homestand also includes a Mariners Value Game on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
